A gifted guide who teaches from her heart as well as her head, Jane has a deft ability to take events and metaphors that others overlook and use them to show how the common is truly holy. Previous to her role at The WorkShop, Jane was the Interim Director of Theological Field Education at the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, Texas; an Episcopal Church Foundation Fellow (1994); an Episcopal priest and part-time Assistant Rector of St. Mark’s; part-time faculty member in the Department of Religion, Trinity University (San Antonio); instructor in pastoral ministry at the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest (Austin); was formerly the Interim Director of Theological Field Education (ETSS); and has prior experience in calligraphy, book design and printing. She is the 2005 recipient of the Durstan R. McDonald award for teaching excellence at the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest (Austin). Patterson will soon complete her doctoral studies in New Testament at Southern Methodist University. Her dissertation, currently being completed, addresses Paul’s use of the metaphors of sacrifice in his First Letter to the Corinthians.
