Listening Devices

This collection of poetry explores the nature of language, love and loss, our history, and the simple joy of being alive. It is organized into four sections, or quartets, each of which is based upon a piece of music that sets the mood for the poems in that section. Texas poet laureate Carol Coffee Reposa says of Listening Devices: “a near Renaissance breadth of vision…Dennis is a poetic wizard.”

 James R. Dennis is a poet, a novelist, and a Dominican friar. He also writes and teaches on spiritual matters. He lives in San Antonio with two ill-behaved dogs.
