What does your Tuesday morning look like?  Perhaps you spend it wading through the weeds of your inbox, sipping on disappointingly-lukewarm coffee.  Maybe you attend a series of meetings, or ready the kids for school in a flurry of lunchboxes and carpool lines.

In any case, it’s unlikely you devote Tuesday mornings to meditation, prayer, and self-reflection.  It’s unlikely that you spend it with the great monks and mystics of the Christian Tradition.

This past Tuesday, January 10th, Mary Earle, Episcopal priest and author of nine books, began her spring workshop series “Embracing the Wisdom of Monks and Mystics” at Oblate School of Theology.  Running from January 10th- April 4th on Tuesday mornings from 10:30 am- 12:30 pm, the workshop is based upon the book “Illuminating the Way” by Christine Valters Paintner.

Each week will focus on a different icon, ranging from St. Francis of Assisi to Thomas Merton.  Mary Earle and Rosalyn Collier, co-founder of San Antonio peaceCENTER, will facilitate these weekly sessions focused on meditation, prayer, group discussion, and reflection.  The series aims to help participants “gain greater self-knowledge and experience a deeper encounter with God.”

Maybe it’s time to rethink your Tuesday mornings.
